Welcome to the website of the Old Orchard Beach Fire/Rescue Department. My name is John Glass. I became Fire Chief in January 1999 after serving as Captain and Deputy Chief for two years under the former structure of a combined public safety department. I am proud to lead a dedicated professional staff of Career Firefighters, Volunteer Firefighters, Part-time Rescue Personnel, Lifeguards and Jr. Firefighters. The Fire Department has undergone many changes in the past several years with additions of rescue, lifeguards, and support personnel. We are a full service department with trained personnel in fire suppression, inspection, emergency medical service, fire prevention, hazardous materials, and technical rescue.

Our small force has become adept at making major accomplishments with very minimal resources. Our fire suppression force is made up of highly skilled, motivated individuals who dedicate their time to saving lives and protecting property. Our ambulance/rescue staff is regarded as one of the finest in the State. A comprehensive, aggressive inspection division has drastically reduced the overall numbers of fires in the Town and made visitors as well as residents safer. Summer lifeguards also work under the departments' supervision and have made our three-mile Town beach safe for many years. These functions are well supported by our jr. firefighter programs.

I invite you to view each portion of our website. Your comments are welcomed. I also invite you to visit Old Orchard Beach and enjoy our seasonal activities.

 Be safe and enjoy.
